Nintendo Switch 2

Why it's exciting

The Switch 2 keeps the idea that made the first Switch a family staple: one console that moves between the TV and your hands in a second. What changed is nearly everything inside it. The screen is larger, the console runs newer games that the original could not, and the Joy-Con 2 controllers now snap on with magnets instead of sliding rails. Each Joy-Con can also be used like a mouse on a table, which a handful of games are built around. GameChat, opened with a dedicated button, lets friends talk and watch each other play. Most original Switch games still work, so a family that already owns a library does not start over. Nintendo raised the US price to $499.99 on September 1, 2026, so it is a big-ticket gift, often split between relatives.
